Life Enhancments

Happy Monday!

I like to consider myself a pretty organized person and have always been pretty obsessed with trying to maintain as stressfree a day as possible. In my opinon, that starts as soon as you wake up. If you start your day with a clear head then your day is more likely to be smooth sailing from there. I wanted to share with you some things I do every day before I go to bed and before I actually "start" my day.

My first thought in the morning: COFFEE. Having the coffee maker set up to brew before I even get downstairs makes my morning so much smoother. One less thing I have to do. But before coffee, water. I know you've heard it before but it's important for your body to have water before coffee so when I set up the coffee the night before I also have my lemon water ready for the microwave in the morning (I don't have time for the kettle).

Side note, there are so many benefits of drinking lemon water in the a.m.
  • Detoxes
  • Great for your skin (antioxidants, vitamin C)
  • Builds up your immunity...Its flu season!
  • Enhances digestion

Clean the kitchen before bed no matter how tired you are. This one is huge! Not only does it help me sleep better knowing that I don't have a mess waiting for me but it is also amazing to wake up and cook breakfast in a clean kitchen.

Now I know you may not have a roomba but let me tell you it is life changing!! One of the best investments you could make. I was skeptical at first but just the same as the kitchen, running the roomba when you go to bed and waking up with clean floors is fantastic. Especially with my husky Perla Blue and her never ending fur that is everywhere.

Have an idea of what's for dinner the next day. Doing this like some of the other things leaves room in my head for other things. Sundays are all about food. I always try to grocery shop, meal prep, and get ideas for dinners for the week. When I go to sleep knowing what I'm making for dinner the next day gives me a sense of feeling like I at least have it together a little.

How do I know these things work? Because of all the times when I do literally none of this and feel like an absolute hot mess who's ready to pull her hair out. Ha! Don't do any of these? Try just one and see how it improves your day and night.

Enjoy your day, I hope it moves along swiftly!

A Three Month Reflection

As I write this sipping Prosecco and taking a moment to myself I think how my sweet Theo Shane is three months old. And with the last three months being much of a whirlwind I caught myself reflecting on it. In no way do I want to come off as all knowing, or like I'm the first person to ever have a baby. However, I have had the honor of knowing some pretty amazing moms and soon-to-be moms. This post is for you.

When I was pregnant, I heard a lot of things. Some of those things being " Your life is going to change." , "Soon there won't be any date nights!", "Sleep now because you'll never sleep again.". And while sure your life absolutely changes but in the most amazing way. The way people said it to me was like a negative change like you'll lose your freedom. I know I sure do have much to learn as a new Mom but I'm going to pass down what I have learned in this last three months.

While pregnant I was doing a shoot for a friend and fellow Mom. We were talking about pregnancy and momming when she said something really eye opening that I won't soon forget. "Your life doesn't have to change, you just incorporate your little one into it." It was so simple but it really grabbed me. She was right. I feel like as an expecting Mom so many people try to scare you. Why? I'm not sure. But being three months in, she was in fact, very right. MK and I pretty much lead the same life with a little one added in enriching our lives beyond words.

You can still be you. While Mom Jeans are very in right now (praise Jesus!) that doesn't mean you have to give up your pre mom style. I have an edgy glam style and being a mom or not, it's staying that way. Speaking of clothes, that brings me to the post baby bod. I thought I was ready for it, really I did. But as Rachel Green would say "Isn't that just kick-you-in-the-crotch, spit-on-your-neck-fantastic?". Where my "Friends" fans at? Here's the thing and this thing is taking a while to get used to. GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK! You brought a human here. A human.  No matter how that little creature got here, whether you had a hard or an easy (thank you Theo) delivery, you grew them, and got them here. You are amazing. So when you are horrified much like I was, that your body didn't immediately snap back. Remember that.

Going back again to when I was pregnant, I told my best friend that if something ever happened to me to please delete my google search history. I googled everything! "What happens when..." What if..." "Is it possible that..." If you're pregnant or a new mom, stop second guessing yourself on the little things. When something feels right or wrong it probably is. Mom instinct is real.

So I wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped me along the way, given me advice (solicited or not and a special thank you to my Sister Sarah (mom of four!) for her advice, wisdom, and patience.) because it has truly helped me develop as a Mom. And I must say keep those baby photos and bump updates coming on Facebook and Insta. I sure do feel honored to be in such great company. Thanks for stopping by Fast Fashionista today!

Thanks to my own Mom for hooking Theo and I up with these matching Adidas tracksuits!

Cheers Mammas!

Improving Your Own Style

Hello and Happy Monday!

I'm starting this week with some serious ways to improve the style you already have.  Before I say this let me first say that each persons style is their own and if you love it then that is simply that. But here are five fashion tips that could help you elevate your current style.

1. You're dressed head to toe in all the current trends. It's just too much. Pick a favorite trend and only wear that. For example, I've always loved bee's but thanks to Gucci they are everywhere! And my Steve Madden flats are my go to shoe at the moment but they make a pretty big statement. So when I wear them I tone down everything else.

2. Pick an era you love and emulate it. I love a more edgy glam look myself so I've always been drawn to the Gatsby Era and the 50's when people actually cared about what they looked like. Again with the over doing it, I know someone who just loves the 60's and why wouldn't you? It was an amazing time. But she'll wear a birdcage on her head every day. It's a bit much. Blend your right now style with the era you love.

3. Don't panic shop. This was a lesson I absolutely learned the hard way. You've got an event coming up but you put off getting something to wear until the last minute and before you know it you're sweaty in a dressing room hating everything or paying $35 for overnight shipping on something you aren't even sure about. The fix? Shop all the time! Kidding. I can see my MK cringing reading that. So maybe not all the time but always stay on the lookout for a great dress that you love, or amazing pieces that you know you can make a great look out of.

4. Only wear things you love. I've purchased things that I thought could work you know if I put it with this or that. I didn't love the fabric but it could work. Turns out not so much. I never wear those pieces because I didn't love them. Buy what you truly love. Your wallet and closet space will thank you.

5. Wear things over again. This is something that I really had to work on myself. I have an off white coat that I deeply love and wear it all the time. Its a huge cold weather staple for me. From helicopter dates, exploring Paris, or just a night out. Learn to love your staples!

So I pray your coffee is really hot but not too hot and your day goes smoothly.
