Happy Spring!

Happy first day of SPRING!!!!!

It's finally here! It might be a gloomy rainy day but hey all the rain brings the pretty flowers right? It sure was a long cold Winter and I for one am ready for it to be gone.

Here we are eight years later and we can still hear Miranda Priestly's voice "Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking." Well once again they are a big trend for this season. I decided that my first outfit wasn't going to include florals just for this reason. Ha! For me this fabulous warmer season is all about colors, both light and bright. Also I always say the more feathers and seaquins the better!! Since as previously stated, feathers were all over the runways at Fashion Week I decided to make that part of this outfit.

One more thing, this man right here? He has my heart on so many levels. Always the stylish guy, that was one of the first things that attracted me to him. Also, for years, the fedora has been his signature look and for me..it never gets old.

Enjoy your first weekend in the new season!

Spicy Sriracha

You've been hearing about Sriracha everywhere this past year and now it's you turn to try it out if you haven't yet! You only need a tiny bit of it for the most part because it's pretty hot but it sure does add a great flavor. This salad is my new favorite because it's low cal and the flavor packs a delicious punch. With the hot of the Sriracha and the sweet of the Thai sauce it is the perfect balance. This recipe is yet another from the cookbook "Skinny Taste" called "Bangin' Good Shrimp". I, of course, made a few slight changes of my own

  • 5 Tbsps. light Mayo
  • 3 Tbsp Thai sweet chili sauce
  • 1 or 2 Tsp Sriracha sauce
  • 1 pound shrimp
  • 1 Tsp canola oil
  • 3 cups iceberg lettuce (shredded)
  • 1 cup red cabbage
  • I added 1/2 avocado and sprinkled some blue cheese

Along with amazing flavor it is also easy to make. Prepare the shrimp by sauteeing, and then in a large bowl mix everything together. At only 215 calories per serving (makes 4 servings),  it's a hard recipe to resist.

Quick Organization

Being organized can be tough especially when you are constantly on the go. So here are a few "Fast Tips" to stay organized and start your week with a clear head.

  1. At the start of your day make a small list of things you want to accomplish. I do this regularly and it really does make a big difference. It gives you a chance to prioritize.
  2. Know what you are going to have for dinner Monday-Thursday. Personally this gives me so much clarity knowing what is going to be on the table that evening. That way there is no last minute running around finding a recipe.
  3. This one might sound silly but make the bed every morning! I once read in a magazine to do this to start the day out right and believe me it works! When I forget to do this it makes an impact.
  4. This is one I am constantly trying to achieve. Finish a task before starting a new one. By far I struggle with this on a daily basis, but I'm getting better.
  5. Keep a calendar. MK and I use "Cozi" (www.cozi.com). Pink is me, Blue is MK, Orange is our company, and Green is all. We've used this for years and we absolutely love it. Keeps us busy folks very organized on a daily basis.

Now, go out there and seize the week and make it a wonderful one!
