The Eye Eats First

Hello Friends!

There is a reason so many people sit down at a table and snap a photo of their food before they eat it. Annoying? Sure. Am I one of those? Yep, sometimes. But there is something to be said for a well presented dish.

When I want to learn something I completely immerse myself in it. Which was what I did when it came to pretty food plating. The best part is that it’s all about having fun! If you mess up just wipe it off and try again. I found an amazing chef who talked about food plating and followed along.

What you need:

A pea, garlic, and olive oil puree in a squeeze bottle

Peas and edamame

Thinly sliced radish

Herbs, and diced cucumber and red pepper

Cumin

What you do:

Step 1: Make a circle with your puree and swoosh.

Step 2: Do some dots but stay on the right side.

Step 3: Make tiny piles of pea and edamame.

Step 4: Lean radish on piles for height.

Step 5: Throw in some herbs. I used dill.

Step 6: Randomly sprinkle cucumber and pepper.

The final step: Sprinkle Cumin and Ta Da! You’re done!

Then just add your protein. That is all it takes to create this beautiful dish. It’s isn’t hard and it doesn’t even take that much time to do.

Here is to being fearless in the kitchen! And also staying warm today because it’s like really cold here.

Accentuate You

I feel like I need a redo for Monday...

I find it so interesting that Dior published his Fashion Dictionary book in 1954 and all of the things that changed. Also some that hasn’t. I absolutely love today’s word “Accent”. It’s like the exclamation point to your final look. I love things that are personal and an accent as Dior so perfectly puts, no one can do it better than you. Now, no one is really wearing a flower per say, but accents are still alive and well in the fashion world.

I’ve loved bees for a really long time. Far longer than the Gucci boom when you started to see them everywhere. This Swarovski bee pin is so fun to add to literally anything! A coat, blazer, or as shown here on a scarf. I feel like a pin in the perfect accent to any outfit. Find one that speaks to you.

Tuesday’s are weird. Hope yours isn’t. Get a strong coffee kick it’s ass.

The Good Freeze

Hey guys, it’s Friday and we made it through the week!

That means it’s time for a cocktail, right?

I don’t know about you but I had one busy week! We had tons of shoots, including a fabulous engagement. And, of course, the mothering of my son and dogs is nonstop, that’s just the way I like it. Now, if only I could get a handle on this laundry? Eff.

We, here in Southwestern Pennsylvania, had a week of 4° and the next day it was 60° and then ended the work week with some snow and I thought it was only appropriate to make “The Frozen Martini”. This easy cocktail is way easy, way good, and much needed.

What you need:

What you do:

All you do for this one is add everything but the Sprite to a shaker full of ice and strain into a rimmed martini glass (I used blue icing and coconut shreds), then just top with Sprite and enjoy!

So, no matter where you are, I hope this weekend is jam packed with all the things you love!
