The Color of Happy

Ahhh Yellow…

Perfect for any time of year but I love it for Summer and Fall. It’s a color that had become a recent favorite of mine.

Yellow certainly has become popular in the last couple of seasons but sometimes it can feel like a tricky color to wear. Contrary to what Dior is saying I like the brighter tones even though my hair is light. But he is right there’s a color for everyone and it’s about trial and error. Try on all the yellows and see which you like the best.

One no fail way to wear yellow is to pair is with blue. Sticking to opposite sides of the color wheel will always have you looking good.

Grab a statement piece like my blazer. This will surly be on repeat this fall. Pair it with jeans and a white tee. Again, the jeans will look great because of the blues.

If you live in my neck of the woods it’s a pretty gloomy day after the crazy storms last evening but this is the perfect way to bring some sunshine to a not so sunny day.

Have a great start to your week!

Everyday Elegance

Happy Monday!

If there is one thing I advocate it’s glamour. Every day, all the time. The word itself is Scottish and means magic. Who wouldn’t want to add that to their life? I think two words that go hand in hand are Glamour and Elegance.

And that is today’s Dior Dictionary Word:

The day doesn’t have to be special or unique. It could be an average morning that is pretty much the same as all the others. But here is where you add your sparkle to the day. A lot of people associate “glamour and elegance” with money. Which is a shame because it has nothing to do with a dollar sign. It’s is a state of mind and I’m here to help add a little shine to an ordinary day. I work from home so it may differ from person to person but here are five fast tips on how to add some glamour to your every day life.

Ways to add elegance and glamour to every day life:

Start your day with music! Whatever makes you feel good. In my house I always have artists like Frank Sinatra, Eartha Kitt, Ray Lamontagne, and various French artists playing.

If you work from home still get ready. Sure there are some days I sit in sweats and am totally useless but let me tell you getting ready makes me want to be more productive and actually be ready for the day ahead.

Wear lingerie! Even if no one sees it. The point is that it’s for you. You don’t have to be a collector like me but it makes you feel great and stand up a little straighter, too.

Keep fresh flowers in the house. This is one thing I’ve done for years and definitely makes me happy.

Invest in “you time”. This is so important because we all lead very busy lives and this is a huge part of self care. It could just be sitting outside and enjoying a cup of coffee or glass of wine.

Never skip perfume! My current favorite is Chanel Coco Noir.

Have a signature meal to cook. For me, it’s fresh pasta, sauce, and bread.

Don’t obsess over your looks but put yourself together. I have a 2 minute face that I’ll put on when I’m not “going anywhere”. Just BB Cream, brows, and mascara. You feel put together even if it’s just for your toddler to see.

Keep in mind, things like this are important because most of it is self care. And what’s more important than that?

I hope your week starts off sparkly!

Fabulous Feathers

Hello Friends!

I’ve been saving this Dior Dictionary Word but I can’t anymore because it is one of my most favorite things in fashion and it is having a MAJOR moment in high fashion right now. From Chanel to Givenchy feathers are everywhere on the runways for Fall/Winter 2019/20.

I’m always amused to see if the word of the week has changed drastically or not from now to then. In this case I would say yes. Feathers have become such a fun part of fashion and taken less serious than the days when Dior wrote this. They have for sure become a way to have fun with fashion and I am all about it!

For me, feathers are always in fashion. But when they are seen on the runways it makes my heart happy. I added a ton of feathers to my wedding gown and even had “feather girls” instead of flower girls. Also, when I talk about feathers I like to talk about one of my favorite pieces I own. I picked it up when shopping in Paris one afternoon at Chantel Thomass.

Another thing I’m living for in fashion right now is feathers on shoes! It’s no secret I have a pretty major shoe obsession and adding feathers to them is the icing on the cake. So stay tuned because for this weeks Martini Moment I’m sharing a very simple DIY with subtle feathers and as always a drink recipe!

Have a chic Tuesday!
