Style And A Martini

Ahhhh Friday! Basically the best day of the week and for many of us its a three day weekend. Lately, I've been thinking a lot about personal style as I am always trying to cultivate mine. So let's talk some quick tips to know your style.

Find your inspiration

For me, it's Olivia Palermo every time. Her style truly speaks to me. She's classic and fearless at the same time. Browsing on Pinterest is overflowing with inspiration! Now find go find your style spirit animal.

Pick 5

Items that is. Five favorite pieces from your wardrobe that make you truly happy. For me, it's my feather wrap, floral palazzo pants, black Louboutin's, white cape, and my black scarf from DKs Style Hut. I could almost put them in one outfit, haha.

Be You

Yes, it's great to stay on top of fashion and trends but when it comes down to it, trust your instincts. Wear what you like. It would be such a shame to wear something you didn't feel good in.

Side note. These martini glasses were an early birthday gift from my Aunt. You put them in the freezer and they keep your drink cold!

I hope everyone has an amazing Memorial Day weekend! Wear something sassy!

Those Lashes!

I have always had this way of looking at things like "Maybe I can do that". No matter what it is. Be it a dish I eat at a restarunt or even a top I see in the store. I always think that maybe I can make it. No idea where this way of thinking comes from but I've always had it. While on Pinterest one day I saw that super cute tee with the eyelashes and immediately thought "I should try that". So here is my very quick and easy DIY for the Eyelash Tee. You only need a few things.

Supplies:

  • Tee shirt paint
  • White (or whatever color you desire) tee shirt
  • Your painting tool of choice, I chose a sponge type of brush because I wanted a whimsical feathered look.
  • A ruler to mesure where your lashes should be

I like to think I have a little bit of an artsy side to me so I freehanded the lashes on the shirt so I could make them extra full and dramatic.

Let it dry and throw together your outfit!

This is a fast outfit because you can't go wrong with a white tee, jeans, bright pumps, and an awesome clutch.

Have a fabulous Thursday! We are so close to the Holiday Weekend!

Summer Flavor

Whilst galavanting at Target, basically my favorite place, I came across the "Fun and Festive Food and Drink" book. Well let me tell you that's an understatement in a book title if I've ever heard one. This book is FANTASTIC! So today I'm sharing a quick drink recipe that is fresh and a Ceviche dish that is low cal and perfect for having guests over or to just throw together for no reason at all. Assembly is quick, but waiting for it to marinate? Not so much.

I'm so ready for Summer bacasue I'm pretty sure it tastes like this:

Watermelon Mojito (makes one drink):

1/2 lime juice

6 fresh mint leaves

1 tablespoon sugar

1/2 cup chopped seedless watermelon

2 oz light rum

3/4 cup ice cubes

Combine lime, mint leaves, and sugar in a shaker and mash or muddle them. Add watermelon and mash it until its crushed. Add rum and ice, shake until blended. The strain into an ice-filled fancy glass of your choosing. Garnish with watermelon because it's cute and delicious.

Since we are talking watermelon, which is basically one of the best parts of summer I thought I'd choose a recipe that also had watermelon. If you don't know about Ceviche, you should. If you like seafood that is. This is a very mild recipe nothing too crazy in it.

Shrimp and Watermelon Ceviche:

1 pound medium raw shrimp

1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice

1 cup seedless watermelon

1/2 cup red onion

1/2 cup cilantro

1 jalapeno minced

Crackers of your choosing

Remove tails from shrimp and chop into small pieces, combine shrimp and 1/2 cup lime juice in a medium bowl and coat. Let that sit in the fridge for about an hour, then drain. While that's happening combine watermelon, onion, cilantro, and jalapeno and remaining lime juice in a large bowl. Stir in shrimp and cover for about 30 minutes so that the flavors can blend. Serve with those delicious crackers.

This summer is going to be great...
