Trend Talk

Let's have a Friday martini shall we? For today's Martini Moment I'm talking Spring Fashion. I always like to get a jump on the upcoming season and what better time than to chat about it over a delicious cocktail?

That fuzzy rodent might have said more Winter but I'm thinking Spring! It's always so exciting because well lets face it we are all ready to get out of th cold. Let's talk trends. I've already covered that you need bell sleeves and a floral bomber or two.

Now, I'm so thrilled about this next one because I loved it the first time around (well first for me)  when I was young. Guys, The Bustier is BACK! Fashion insiders have already been rocking this and an easy way to do this one is to pair with a button down or a thin long sleeve shirt. I love it because it's just a little bit different. Don't be afraid to try it, just go for it!

One of the best and most classic martinis (thank you Sex and the City) is the Cosmo. Just in case you didn't know exactly how to make this fabulous drink here is is.

The Cosmo

1 1/2 oz citrus vodka
3/4 oz Cointreau or Triple Sec
3/4 oz cranberry juice
1/2 oz fresh lime juice

Add vodka,  Cointreau or Triple Sec, and juices to your cocktail shaker with ice and shake. Garnish with lime. Tada! Perfect Cosmo.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and I hope a delicious drink is in your near future.

Just Get Me A Really Big Closet

Fast Fashionista turns three today!

First of all, thank you to all of my readers and supporters. You all mean the world to me. I love that my little hobby/labor of love has been a place for you to come to. Be it fashion or food or whatever else I'm glad you're here for the ride. I thought this would be the perfect time to share my dressing room with you.

Before I say anything else let me take you to a cold November day when we were buying our house. "Babe I found your closet" he says after the inspection. Mk knew while we were looking that I needed two things 1) a dressing room and 2) a huge bathtub. I had plans of making one of our bedrooms into my closet. But with MK's idea we decided to roll with it and do the attic. Once we got our ducks in a row, my sweet Dad built stairs to the attic in one of our small rooms, and construction started in August of last year. I know you're going to ask so yes, I very much will miss the pink room with butterfly border.

Some of these are Iphone photos so bare with me.

So since this was just an attic there needed to be windows. It was amazing to watch our construction team put them in! One day there were no windows and just like that there were.

The contractors were in and out in two weeks and MK and I are all about DIY and we painted and painted and painted...and then painted more.

Not only did my sweet Dad build the steps he also helped MK while he put the floor down. I helped some too!

The floor was done and I couldn't have been happier with my choice. It was time to start building wardrobes. Before we started weddings and every free second we had it was building the wardrobes.

Once the wardrobes were done it was all about the island assembly. Thank goodness for this man of mine because I would not have had the patience or building smarts for that matter. Perla was always there to assist.

Building three chandeliers took up a lot of time but we got it done.

It took three months to finish the closet and I was in by the end of October. I wanted to get some final details complete before posting it online. Here are pictures we just took yesterday. Let me know what you think?

I'm so happy to be able to share this with you. I want to take a quick second and thank my Husband for putting so much time and effort into this project all to make me happy. I lucked out that for sure. Thank you MK!

Just get me a really big closet...

Dinner For Two

Happy February!

This is such a fun month. First of all, Spring is soon! Always very exciting. Second, there is no better time to talk about fancy undergarments, sweet treats, and delicious just for two recipes. Which is just what this post is about. MK and I have been together for almost ten years so that's given us many different times to do different things for Valentine's Day. From having dinner right in front of our fireplace, to landing in Paris on the day of love, we've had them all. If you are having a romantic night in (which are often the best ones) I've found a perfect recipe for you. This easy recipe won't keep you in the kitchen all night but I can assure you that it is a crowd pleaser.

Basil pesto Chicken Pasta

with Sundried Tomatoes and Broccoli

Here is what you need:

-2 cups pasta of your choice, I used orecchiette because it's fancy but feel free to use a simple penne

-1/4 cup sundried tomatoes in olive oil, chopped up

- Half large red onion

-3 cloves thinly sliced garlic

-1/2 tsp crushed red pepper

-1 large chicken brest chopped

-4 tbsp pesto, you could make your own for vday just buy it and save some time

-1 cup cooked broccoli

-salt and pepper to taste

Here is what you do:

1) Cook your pasta

2) In a large skillet on medium heat add tomatoes, garlic, onion, and the red pepper.

3) Toss in that chicken and cook

4) Add in the pesto and turn the heat to low

5) Add the cooked broccoli and pasta to the pot. Toss everything together. Also, feel free to add in some fresh mozzarella for some extra yum.

Is this low cal? Well no. But hey, it's for a special day right? Treat yo self.

Wine Pairing: Sauvignon Blanc

Have a fantastic Wednesday!
