Perfect Patio Plants

A big sigh of relief that it is that time of year to be outside!  Well for me that only really extends to the patio. My fabulous "warm weather glass" that says "I'm outdoorsy in that I like to get drunk on patios" really sums me up. MK knows me well.

Anywho, since I like many others love my patio I wanted to give you a sneak peak at mine and share some plants that grow well on them. Every year MK and I make our little slice of heaven filled with plants and flowers. There is nothing better than spending 12+ hours shooting a wedding to come home to a lush, cozy patio where the wine is flowing. Right, back to plants. Here is a list of the ones you just need on your outdoor lounging area:

Citronella

Citronella

Herbs- Although not colorful they are one of my favorites because I'll cook with them. My favorites to have on hand are mint, rosemary, always always basil. But create your own favorite mix and have a reason to throw some chicken on the grill make some rosemary chicken for dinner.

Clematis- This brings back memories (as do herbs) of my childhood and I just love to look at them. I always have them growing up one of the posts of my patio. Just wrap a string around the post so that they have something to hold on to.

Citronella- Is there anything more annoying than mosquito's when you are attempting to enjoy the outdoors and your drink? A Citronella plant will keep those nasty little buggers away. Maybe get two.

Below, is my favorite flower on the patio wall. It's small, colorful and adorable!

Hello 27

I spent the first day of being 27 making a list throughout the day of things I have learned in the roller coaster ride that was 26.

  • You won't always have to know the answer and its okay to ask for help.
  • Sometimes you think things like "2015 is going to be my year"...and when it's not, you hold you head up and know that you can deal with tough things. Those moments are when you find your strength.
  • There will be bad days, but they are only that. Tomorrow is new and it will be better.
  • Never, ever under any circumstances expect anyone to congratulate you on doing a good job.
  • Splurge every now and then.
  • Get a good iron. It isn't worth it to iron something and it not be perfect.
  • Look around at the good people in your life and be thankful for them.
  • Just for a second take a look back and see the people who are no longer there and understand the reasons. Make peace with that.
  • Stop "looking forward" to your next event and appreciate right now.
  • Be ready for change always.
  • Do squats. Just shut up and do them.
  • Invest in staple pieces, not so much on whats trendy.
  • Never have a day without a goal, even a small one.
  • Most importantly, love you. Your hair, your nose, taste in fashion, the way you wait till the last minute to do something. No one else will like you if you first don't like yourself.

I'm not going to lie I was a little freaked out to turn another year older but after spending the day with my Husband, family, best friend, and all the amazing people who love me, I am so thankful to be another year older and am beyond ready to see what 27 has in store for me. I pray that it is kind and full of much more life experience.

Also, Happy Birthday to Marilyn Monroe...where ever you may be.

Good Vibes, Good Times

Happy Friday!

Even though it's been a cold week, it's about that time again to relax on the patio, have some drinks, and head to the fire pit! I for one, couldn't be happier about the upcoming (hopefully!) warmer weather. I must say I'm a big fan of a spiked lemonade. This is the perfect recipe for a party or just you and your girlfriend catching up and chatting about the week. And seriously, how fabulous is this über positive cup?! You couldn't have a bad night with this glass in hand! New favorite! Along with this recipe...

  • 2 1/2 cups vodka
  • 2 1/2 lemon juice (fresh is best not a must)
  • 1/2 superfine sugar (leave a little if you want to sugar your rim)
  • Ice, of course.
  • Lemon slices

Test this out before serving to see if you want more sugar. I like mine tart so you'll want to check. Also, to be super low cal I used Stevia for the sugar.

Have a wonderful weekend all! I hope it's filled with ..good vibes. See what I did there?
