Soak The Day Away

Sunday's are for long baths...

What a perfect way to spend this snowy Sunday! Since I was young one of my favorite things in the whole world was to take a bath. Well that hasn't changed. To me there is nothing better than grabbing a bottle of champagne and soaking the day away. So when I find a way to further improve this moment to relax I jump on it.

To make your next bath even more amazing, just add these three things for the best detox ever:

Handful of Epsom salts

1/2 baking soda

10 drops essential oil

Here are some great choices for oils and the affect they have:

Lavender & Eucalyptus - Calming
Peppermint- Will wake you up!
Chamomile & Rosemary- For a headache

Now go enjoy your Sunday!

Slow Down Sunday

I. Live. For. Sundays.

All week long I am in a constant state of moving and running. Life is busy for all of us through the week right? Working full time and also owning a busy photography company can be very taxing on MK and I. A lot of times this is my only day off. Because of that, we have a rule that we only break on rare occasions: no work on Sunday's.

Since most of my posts are fast this is going to be the one day a week that I'll feature something not so fast. "Slow Down Sunday" is going to be a chance to, well, stop and smell the roses per say.

So how about these Rose Potato's?! Easy, elegant, and great to switch up the normal boring potato side. Having said it'd easy I must say it is not quick to perfect these lovely buds.

Here is what you need:

  • 7 potatoes (or more just depending on your guest list)
  • 5-6 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Italian herbs and 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt and 1/2 pepper

Here is what you do:

  • Wash and peel potatoes and slice them with a peeler into very thin slices
  • Combine oil and spices

  • Make a row of like 9-10 slices and brush with your oil mixture

  • Start rolling them but hold them tight
  • Boom! You've got a rosebud
  • Set the rose into a muffin tin, its possible that you might not have enough slices for the circle so you might need to add a couple slices so that the rose sits tight
  • Brush the tops with oil seasoning
  • Throw in the oven on 400 for 25-30 minutes- just make sure its golden.

Because Wine

Well I sure have been a slacker as of late. I was hoping that January would bring a little more of a less hectic schedule but not so much.

What gives with wine taking martinis place this week? I'll tell ya. I haven't drank wine in TWO WEEKS. Big accomplishment for this gal. Anyway, this is something I learned a while back and as small as it is, it has made a huge impact.

Once I had read somewhere that in order to start your day off right you should always make your bed in the morning. Like always. When I first read it I thought it was pretty silly but I still started doing it and now it doesn't seem so silly.

Here are a few reasons to make your bed every single day.  Every. Single. Day.

  • It instantly polishes your room.
  • You cross one small thing off your to-do list.
  • Here is a big one. Your linens and pillows will keep their shape better.
  • It promotes positive and productive choices all day.

Now go make your bed then have a glass of Vino later. That's right I'm bossy. Ha!
