National Handbag Day!

A very happy National Handbag Day to you! Clearly this needs addressed! October 10th is now one of my new favorite days and one that certainly deserves celebrated! Champagne late of course. In honor of this completely fabulous day I wanted to share a new and also favorite of mine. Since green is my favorite color, this stunning beauty was right up my alley. When sauntering down the streets of Rome I stumbled into a handbag shop and immediately grabbed this as if it were begging me to. Green, handmade Italian Leather. I knew I was in love and I knew it was mine. Even MK said "Seriously, you have to get that". This, coming from the guy who always says I have enough purses. It really was as special as I deep down knew it was. Every now and again a piece comes along that you know you'll have and love forever, here is mine.

Now I want to hear about your favorite! Tell me all about it as we celebrate National Handbag Day!

The Many Shades Of Stripes

A great staple piece to have in your wardrobe is a black and white stripped dress. However, sometimes that staple can get a little boring. Here are a few different patterns and prints to help jazz up the stripped look. The beauty of this look is you can rarely go wrong. Plus, it's so fun to mix and match!

My favorite? The leopard of course! I just love the combination of stripes and leopard print. The red is a close second because let's face it black, white, and red together is basically a no brainer. Now go dig out some scarves you haven't used in a while and put them to use!

Seasonal Snacks

Sometimes things are just better when they are bite sized! I'll take canapés and mingling over a sit down dinner any day. I make these every Fall and this year MK requested them basically as soon as Fall...fell. With the smell of Pumpkin candles flooding the air and a not so coincidental Pumpkin beer in hand, I certainly was in the mood for Mini Pumpkin Pie making!

You can make these exactly how you make a normal pumpkin pie but here is my recipe:

For the crust:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2/3 cup  oil
  • A splash of water as needed

Mix everything together and then form into greased muffin tins.

For the filling:

  • 1 can pumpkin puree
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 can evaporated milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees, mix all of your ingredients until smooth, put 1/3 cup filling in each pie crust, bake 20-25 minutes or until the centers are about set.

Enjoy!
