My Martini Moment

Patio Punch

Is it just me or is it really hard to tell which way is up or down this week? Might be the holiday or might be my baby that feels sleep is only for the weak. Anyway, it’s patio season and if you know me then you know I love my wine but also a unique cocktail here and there. And by the time Friday gets here I'm more than ready for just that. So for today's Martini Moment I'm sharing the most perfect drink for Summer days and nights spent outside.

Pimm's Punch

1 cup Pimm's Liquor

1/2 cup Vodka

Lemonade

Handful of strawberries

1/2 orange

1/2 cucumber

Fresh mint

Get your favorite pitcher and add your booze. Fill 3/4 of the way up with lemonade.  Add fruit and ice, then garnish with fresh mint.

It feels like we get another weekend, no? Enjoy it everyone!

Theo Goes

Happy Friday Everyone! We made it!

You probably know by now from pervious posts and my social media that we recently took a trip with six month old Theo Shane. Travel is very important to MK and I so we want to instill that in Theo and start him out early. Having said that, I had no idea what to expect so I thought I would share a couple things we learned along our little journey with our little one. But first, I feel it's important to say that this is just what worked for us in our situation and I can only hope that it could help if you find yourself in the same position.

Our Baby Travel Tips:

1. Go into it with an open mind, relaxed attitude and try not to stress.

2. Have a plan for everything! A blowout, a meltdown, hunger, boredom. Anything. Think about any scenario that could happen. Was that Theo's original cute Adidas tracksuit that I had planned for him to be in? Nope.

3. If you're flying have baby suck on a bottle going up and down. It will help their ears.

4. Don't panic. If baby starts crying just roll with it. Yes it's stressful and airplane seats are small but odds are it won't last.

5. Things I always had on me at all moments: Clorox wipes, Tide pen, and Honest Company hand sanataizer spray. These are all just great to always have in the diaper bag too.

All in all Theo did really well on the plane and throughout our whole trip. Now the trick is getting him back on his normal schedule. Send help.

After all the travel you need a drink! Since we were in The Keys I though it was only appropriate to make a Sea Blue & Boozy. It's the most perfect summer drink!

Fill your glass 3/4 with Prosecco, add in Triple Sec and Vodka, then add a splash of Blue Curacao. Garnish with orange. Enjoy!

Your Inner Sommelier

Hello and Happy National Wine Day!

Now I love me a made up holiday that's for sure. And you know I won't ignore this one! I wouldn’t be me if I did. As I was thinking about a wine post to do I was thinking about the things I learned about wine and how it would be helpful to those who might not know. Here are three things to know about when drinking your favorite glass of vino.

Check out those legs.

On your wine that is. When you swirl your wine two things happen. First it releases the aromas of the wine so you can better taste it. Second, you can see wine drip down the sides of the glass those are called the legs. The longer they take to fall the better the wine is.

Smell your wine

but did yo know when you do this your mouth should be open? Try it. Smell it once with your mouth closed and again with it open. Huge difference.

Get specific

My last tip is to zone in on one region you really like. For myself and MK we really love Spanish and Argentina wines. But out favorite is Rioja wines. So after you find your wine, see what pairs well with it so you always know what to order with it when you’re at a restarunt. Lucky for me tapas goes perfect with this wine. Think Cantaloupe and Prosciutto combo or a Fig Crostini. Yes please!

I hope your Memorial Day weekend is jam packed full of fun and vino!
