At Home With Mrs. Kilgore

Coffee Buzz

As you may have read in my February Favorites I got the Ninja Coffee Bar and it's basically amazing. What's better than staying in bed as long as possible on a Sunday morning? I agree, nothing. Ha! I thought for this Slow Down Sunday I would share a delicious coffee recipe that I'd never have time for through the week. During the week I'm lucky if I can dash over to the coffee pot for a second cup (good thing I cut out milk and sugar during the week).

I'm a Starbucks girl through and through, red cup controversy or not. When I treat myself my favorite things to order is the Caramel Macchiato (with an extra shot). On this fine Sunday I figured out how to make one with my Ninja! If you have one here's the recipe, if not, I've also made one for without.

Ninja:
3 tablespoons ground coffee
1/2 1% Milk
2 tablespoons Caramel

Put the coffee in the basket, get your favorite mug, select cup size, hit specialty brew button,  while coffee is brewing place the milk and caramel sauce into the Ninja Easy Frother. Then, Microwave on high for 1 minute. Take out of microwave, secure lid and pump 15 times. When complete, gently pour frothed mixture into coffee and drizzle with delicious caramel sauce. Because it's Sunday and calories don't count today.

Normal way:
6oz stong coffee
6oz milk
1-2 teaspoon sugar (or more for taste)
1/2 vanilla

Make some strong coffee, add vanilla to the coffee grounds before brewing to infuse with flavor. Put the milk in the microwave, add the caramel to the milk and stir well, add coffee to your mug and slowly pour the milk mixture. Add some sugar if you like it sweet.

Now take the coffee in bed and stay there as long as possible because tomorrow is Monday.

Happy Valentine's Day!

For this Slow Down Sunday I wanted to share what Mk and I did this weekend. Typically for this fun holiday we don't go out. We decided to get some wines we've never tried and go to our absolute favorite deli and get some delicious meats and cheeses. Off we went to the "Wine Store"!

Then we headed to Salamone's! This adorable Italian food market was established in 1950 and taken over by Tony the origional owners son in 1971. Allow me to just say that this man is basically my hero. Not only is he sweet and knowledagable but he also had a mug of wine in his hand at 1:00 pm. He truly is one of the reasons we always go back there. He remembers you and always makes for a great experience. Businesses like this are why it's so important to shop local.

Then we went home and made made pizzas and did a little wine pairing. In case you were wondering what goes good with the wine we chose, this was last nights pairing:

Malbec - Gouda

Shiraz - Sharp Chedder

Rioja - Gorgonzola (We got olives stuffed with this delicious cheese), also Gouda.

Happy Friday All! We've made it through another week!

Okay, for today's Martini Moment I am talking about a very serious life hack. Two things I have always hated to do was unload the dishwasher and iron. I mean it's the worst especially ironing. At one point my Mom got me wrinkle release spray. It was a life saver as I'm always on the go. BUT get this. You can make your own, even if you happen to be three martinis in. Its so quick and so easy here is all you need:

Spray Bottle

Fabric softener

Water

Seriously that's it. Then just mix 1 Tbsp of softener and 1 cup water. Shake it. Spray and tug out the wrinkles. The end. Now I guess I'm off to try and find a robot that unloads the dishwasher.

Fast tip:  If you iron a button down shirt inside out it comes out perfect!
