Fizzy, Fruity, & Fabulous

Every now and again when I get a few minutes of quiet (it’s very rare) to myself, I often think of different recipes..drinks included. I know this is a tough time because we aren’t headed to the grocery store as much as we once were so I looked in my fridge to see what I had there right now. I also hate to waste anything so I’m always trying to use things up before they go bad. I saw a cucumber and some strawberries (Theo eats strawberries every morning for breakfast so we try to keep them stocked). I decided to make a fruit syrup. It’s easy and I’ll tell you how:

Fruit Syrup recipe:

what you need:

  • 4 Tbsp water

  • 1 Tbsp chopped Strawberries, or any fruit you have on hand

  • 1 Tbsp Stevia (just my choice, feel free to use regular sugar)

    what you do:

Combine everything in a saucepan and let it cook down for a few minutes.

For this drink I made, add the liquid from the saucepan and soft, cooked berries to cocktail shaker.

  1. Add about one tablespoon of chopped cucumber and muddle with the strawberries and add ice

  2. Add Vodka, Cointreau, and Chambord, shake well

  3. Pour into martini glass and top with Perrier

This drink is super fruity and refreshing, enjoy!

Happy Easter weekend! I don’t know about you but we still plan to dress up on sunday.

    Have to stay sane right?

How To Charcuterie

MK and I have always loved a good date night in but obviously there are far more now. One of our favorite things to do is make a Charcuterie Board and have some wine. I’ve done a couple posts about cheese boards but today I’m giving you a step by step on how to do it and make it picture perfect. We might not be having gatherings at the moment but when we do you can be ready for it with a beautiful cheese board. Hone your skills and make this a date night!

Here is where to start:

  1. Start with your “Extras”:

    • Feta Stuffed Olives

    • Honey and Walnuts

    • Roasted Pepper Bruschetta

    • Olive Tapenade

    • Fig Spread

Scatter these in a way that you know you’ll be able to fit other things around them.

3. Fromage

  • Fresh Mozzarella

  • Goat

  • Brie

  • Asiago

  • Gorgonzola

I always use the rule “something old, something new, something goat, and something blue. Use that and get different textures.

2. The “Vehicle” (carbs)

  • Fresh baguette

  • Roasted Garlic Melba crackers

  • Toasted Pita

  • Triscuits (garlic)

Have fun with this one. Use the curves of the bowls, stack some, make straight lines. Make each one different. Also spread them out.

4. Meats

  • Hard Salami

  • Thick Ham

  • Pepperoni

These are just what I used this time. Feel free to add more (or less). The round shapes of meat are easy to make lines, curves, or if you’re feelin’ groggy an “S”. You can stack the thicker meats in different areas too. I didn’t have access to Prosciutto but it’s usually on my board.

5. Filler

  • Grapes

  • Cherry tomato

That’s all I used this time but feel free to use fresh herbs and anything else you enjoy. Add these anywhere you might see a space. I always love Basil and Rosemary but again, I didn’t go as all out as I usually do.

This is just my most recent board. I’m always trying new flavors and combinations. But, trust me when I say this is the perfect date night in.

I hope you’re all staying safe and are full of delicious wine and cheese!

When To Part

It might not be all that fun being stuck in the house (depending on how much wine you have that is). But I always try to find the silver lining somewhere. Not only am I a terrible sitter with these two kids it’s rarely an option anyway. So it really is the perfect time for a project or two. Better yet, spring cleaning.

Every Spring I like to purge my closet to get rid of the things that I don’t wear anymore. Plus, I always find things I have yet to wear, forgot about, or even just couldn’t see. Also, I’m really running out of hangers again…

It can sometimes be hard to figure out what needs to stay and what needs donated. Here are three tips to know when you should part with an item:

Adjustments.jpeg

Has it been longer than a year since You wore it?

Does it still feel like your style?

Is it damaged beyond repair or worn out?

I’m a massive clothes hoarder. I always have been I always think yes I’ll totally wear this again and then it’s five years later and all it’s doing is taking up space…and a hanger. These three questions always help me make a little more closet space.

In case you DIDN'T knOw iT’s monday. So have a good one!
