Pimm and Proper

You guys ready to get fancy on this fine Friday?

Today's Martini Moment is not a martini at all. It's been a while since I've done an unexpected pairing and the last one was a big hit. Without any adue I give you Pimm's Cup and Lamb Skewers. Each compliments the other. This cocktail is the perfect summer drink! Here is how to make it:
  • 1 1/2 oz Pimms
  • 1/4 Gin
  • 1/4 cucumber, muddled
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • 4 oz Ginger Ale
  • 2 mint leaves

Directions:
Add lemon juice, mint, and cucumber to glass and muddle (like crazy). Add ice and the remaining ingredients, the add Ginger Ale last. Using a vegetable peeler, peel a cucumber length-wise. Using a pick, thread a cucumber, curling it as you go. Garnish with cucumber and rosebud. Whaaaat? Best garnish ever? Yes.

Next just throw some lamb and red onion on a skewer, sprinkled with Rosemary and Garlic. This is a perfect combination for a dinner party or just dinner!

Have an absolutely perfect weekend!

Look A Little Deeper

There is nothing I love more than sitting around a table and catching up with friends. Sometimes that is where my company and I end up, at the table chatting away. Why am I talking about the table? Because it helps to have something pretty to look at while gabbing away. I love creating centerpieces to go with the seasons and wanted to share my Spring/Summer dining room table look. But first, a little story of me and my hoarding tendencies! Haha!

I am always trying to look at things in a different way. For example this lantern. It was my moms and I asked if I could have it about eight years ago. I attempted to put it various places throughout the years and it just never worked. But I refused to throw it away because I knew that one day I would be happy I didn't. It's that day. After a fresh coat of spray paint it is now the center of my dining room set up. So for today's tip, always try to look at this for what they could be not just what they currently are.

Fast Tips on making your centerpieces:
Choose a color scheme. Gold was an easy choice since my rooms have a lot of gold.
Don't be afraid of faux flowers but don't over do it.
Think about layering, for example pebbles and faux moss.

Have a fabulous day!

Patio Perfection

A very happy July to you!

July is an amazing month, fireworks, parties, sunshine, and not to mention the month I met my Husband (I can't even believe this month marks nine years together, geesh!). So for today's Martini Moment lets talk patio.

We are gearing up for our annual 4th party and normally we are ready to go but, with a new house and new patio things are a tad different this year. Due to the locust infestation it would be an understatement to say I haven't really been outside since they appeared and because of that, we are a little late in getting our patio up and running.

Here is a speedy way to clean your patio cushions:

  • Remove cushions
  • Scrub with 1 qt water and a dash of Dawn
  • Rinse with hose
  • Let dry in sun (while you do other things that need tended to)
  • Spray with Scotch guard

A clean patio is a happy one. I know, I know, cleaning is no fun. But you know what helps? A delicious martini, of course!

Happy Friday, happy long weekend! Have a fabulous 4th!

xoxo
