It's Getting A Little...Chili

Welcome Fall!

It is an amazing thing to leave for a trip in the summer and come back to a complete season change. I appreciate the chill in the air and need for a sweater just a little bit more. A tradition of mine is to make a huge batch of Chili as soon as Fall starts. Letting the hearty dish simmer for hours and the delicious smell lingering through the house all day really added an extra thrill to welcoming Fall back once more.

Here is my easy and lower cal Chili dish recipe:

  • 2 pounds lean ground meat
  • A spoonful of chopped garlic
  • Half an onion
  • 3 14.5 oz cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 15oz can of tomato sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons of Chili Powder
  • 2 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 15 oz spicy chili beans (I don't put these in as both MK and I don't love them in our Chili)

Put some oil in a pot, add the garlic and onion and cook until the onions are translucent. Add you meat and brown, then add your tomatoes, sauce, and everything else.

Signature Scents

As Christine Dior so eloquently put it " A woman's perfume tells more about her than her handwriting". It's true! In my opinion, I feel like one should have a few different scents to choose from. Spritzing my perfume is the last thing I do in the morning before exiting my dressing room. Typically I decide on my scent by what I am wearing. For everyday, I use "Live Colorfully" by Kate Spade. The top notes are mandarin, pink water lily and star anise. When I'm a little more dressed up I usually go for Coco Mademoiselle or Miss Dior. They are similar and both smell so elegant. Top notes of the Chanel are Sicilian oranges, Calabrian bergamot and Sicilian grapefruit.  The Dior has a fresh, fruity, citrus prelude into blossoming floral notes.

My favorite? Chanel. Forever. What is your signature scent(s)?

Lunchtime Love

Poor lunch is easily the most overlooked meal of the day. It usually has to be quick and efficient. Every now and again I get pretty obsessed with a certain meal and eat it for a long period of time. Kind of like how I have basically been eating Dippy Eggs for breakfast every day of my life for like years. I switch it up sometimes but for the most part, its Dippy Eggs all the way.

This adorable little meal that I have been making for lunch everyday lately has put a bright spot in the middle of my day. With it's balance of carbs, dairy and veggies its a pretty healthy option coming in at about 375 calories.

You'll need:

  • 2 tortilla shells
  • Your choice of meat - I use turkey
  • Your choice of cheese - I use Swiss
  • 1/2 tomato
  • lettuce
  • just a dash of Miracle Whip

This one isn't rocket science folks but here is what I do. I put the meat and cheese first, add just a tiny bit of the Miracle Whip, lettuce and tomato. Roll it, cut and ENJOY!
