My Martini Moment

The Good Freeze

Hey guys, it’s Friday and we made it through the week!

That means it’s time for a cocktail, right?

I don’t know about you but I had one busy week! We had tons of shoots, including a fabulous engagement. And, of course, the mothering of my son and dogs is nonstop, that’s just the way I like it. Now, if only I could get a handle on this laundry? Eff.

We, here in Southwestern Pennsylvania, had a week of 4° and the next day it was 60° and then ended the work week with some snow and I thought it was only appropriate to make “The Frozen Martini”. This easy cocktail is way easy, way good, and much needed.

What you need:

What you do:

All you do for this one is add everything but the Sprite to a shaker full of ice and strain into a rimmed martini glass (I used blue icing and coconut shreds), then just top with Sprite and enjoy!

So, no matter where you are, I hope this weekend is jam packed with all the things you love!

My Kind Of Mid Winter

Hellooooo Friday!

So we aren’t at the middle of winter just yet, even though it is quickly approaching.

I thought since we may or may not be getting pummeled with snow this weekend that I would share “The Mid Winter Margarita”. You don’t always have to save the Margs for warm weather! I talked about cookbooks in my last post and I think it is equally important to have at least one good cocktail book. My favorite is “Shake” (linked below) and I got it when on the Bourbon Trail a few years back. This delicious recipe is from there and in my opinion a great one to get snowed in with.

What you do:

Simply, throw all of this delicious goodness into a shaker over ice.

For the rim: run a lime wedge around the whole rim and then dip in a sea salt and chili powder mix.

Even though this is a cold drink I’m fairly certain it will still keep you warm this weekend! Stay safe friends!

A Classic Twist

Hello Friday!

We did it! We made it! The weekend is here!

It’s been a heck of a week over here, let me tell you. With our photography company being slammed (and this was supposed to be our off season), and a teething, running one year old, I am very much ready for a drink. I’ve made an Old Fashioned many times before but when I added a little Maple Syrup instead of the normal sugar cube, it was a very welcome change in this classic cocktail.

What you need:

What you do:

Simply just add syrup, water, and bitters in a glass and stir until well blended. Then add your ice and orange peel, and top with bourbon. Garnish with orange peel and cherry.

That’s all for today! Enjoy your weekend and stay warm!
