Fresh Fashion Trends 2023

Happy first day of Spring! Isn’t that the best news ever?

I thought it would be the perfect time to talk about my five favorite spring and summer fashion trends.

1. Sleek Column Maxi’s

Talk about a very easy and very stylish look. This silhouette is going to be very popular this season. I love this look because it’s so simple but also very fashion forward. It’s also a great transition piece to head into spring.

2. Fringe

How fun is this vibe? If you love feathers like I do, then you should definitely try this one out. So much of the time when you hear fringe you think cowboy but when you wear it as a skirt you don’t even think about it.

3. Asymmetrical Skirts or dresses

High/low? Hello 90’s. They sure are back. This trend is more of a high/low on the sides. It’s also a very flattering look because of the asymmetricness.

4. Denim Skirts

If I’m being honest, I’m pretty shocked I’m into this one but again, hello 90’s. They’re back.

I say this every single time I post a trends list. If you don’t like the trend never ever bend to it. Trends are just that, if it’s not for you then feel free to pass on it.

Always stay fabulously you.

I don’t know about you but I’m ready to bid adieu to the cold and welcome Spring. Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you have a fantastic first Monday of spring and your day is full of sparkle.

Mentioning Unmentionables…

Happy Valentine’s Week Everyone!

Today I’m talking about something I collect and one of my favorite things…skivvies!

I’ve done many posts over the nine years I’ve been blogging and some of this may be a repeat but so what? I feel like it’s important for a Gal. Today, I’m sharing four reasons to wear lingerie that isn’t for a man (that should go without saying, amiright?).

  1. Wear it for you. When the foundation of anything (house, makeup) is good then the overall outcome will always work out better.

  2. It’s always fun to have a secret. Something that only you know about. Even if no one sees it that day, you know it’s there.

  3. Knowing you are truly put together from the beginning is a major confidence booster.

  4. Fashion! It’s actually a major part of fashion right now and one of my favorite looks right now is a fun bodysuit under a blazer in this case a long duster.

I’ve long been an advocate of wearing lingerie for yourself and I’m tellin’ ya, once you go down this road there is no turning back to your better self. So this Valentine’s Day you should treat yo self. My current favorites? We Are Hah is an (eco friendly) brand that I just love. La Perla of course, Bluebella, Fleur De Mal, and Chantal Thomass are all great choices.

I hope this V-day brings you nothing but all kinds of happiness and some pretty skivvies, too!

Pizza Made With Love…

Happy National Pizza Day!

Am I blindingly busy right now? Oh yes. But that isn’t going to stop me from paying homage to PIZZA! This is a photo of the best pizza I have ever eaten in Marselle France. It was hands down the best, too. And I’ve eaten pizza in Naples. I sure do love a fork and knife kind of ‘Za and that is exactly what I’m trying to recreate today. I know I won’t get the crust as good as this was but I’m going to give it a whirl.

While Theo Shane was living his best life at school and enjoying his Valentine’s Day party, I decided to utilize my pizza loving Coco. She. Loves. Pizza. Like in her soul. So, when I asked her if she wanted to have a pizza day, she just about lost her mind. To the store we went…

Now it was time to make the dough! This girl loves to get her hands dirty so she was very ready for all of the flour.

Like I said this is just how I made my dough. I’d love to go back and get a lesson from a chef in Europe but for now here is how we did it…

We were very excited to get all of the fixin’s for our pizza. She wanted cheese and tomatoes on hers. Don’t worry it only takes us twice as long in any kind of store because my social butterfly really needs to talk to…everyone.

what you do:

  1. Add flour, salt, and yeast to Kitchen Aid and mix well.

  2. Slowly add in water until well combined.

  3. Cut dough into six pieces and form into rounds.

  4. Drizzle with olive oil and cover for about an hour or so.

  5. Sprinkle the counter with flour and keep pressing down until you have about a 10 inch pie.

  6. Add your toppings and throw into the oven for about 5-7 minutes. These are small pizzas they don’t take too long.

How about her very satisfied chef’s pose here?

Colette went with a classic fresh mozzarella, parm, tomatoes, and spinach. She was very pleased with the her decision.

To recreate my French pizza, I brushed the crust with olive oil and garlic, then I used greens, cherry tomatoes, assorted olives, fresh parmesan and mozzarella. Was it as good as it was in Marselle? Nothing ever will be, but it was indeed very delicious!

To finish our girl’s pizza day, we of course had a little cheers! We had the best day, and I can’t wait to continue teaching The Kilgore Kids all about good food and their way around the kitchen.

Carbs don’t count today!

I hope you find yourself with a delicious slice in your hand on this fine Thursday!
